The thing I found most interesting from reviewing other blogs was the creativity behind the designs. Everybody obviously has completely different tastes and styles, and it was nice being able to see that represented on peoples blogging pages.

I think I'd like to learn how to use some of the programs that Microsoft packages with office. It seems as though there are so many programs sitting there, yet, half of them aren't even used! That would be a good thing to learn.

I think taking more in depth computer classes is always a good idea, since everything is always changing. Especially if the classes are like this one and teach obscure things that nobody knows how to do unless they have been told..

A resource on the web the I will most likely use when teaching is TeacherWeb (http://teacherweb.com/) This website is very useful for the pure fact that, it's easy to use, and it looks nice too.

This would be a good tool to use, so that students and their parents have a way to contact the teacher other than using the phone. Plus they would be able to check out their assignments online, or be able to look up samples, or previous notes, etc.

I would like to learn more html, granted my blog already looks pretty, but still it's nice to know for other things. HTML is a lot of fun, and you can do a lot of different things with it. It's quite interesting in general.

Keeping up with the technology and knowing how to use it are most important. Especially since it's a field where everything is always changing. Whether it's the operating system, the programs, or even the internet.

The book gives in good detail what a computer virus is. It explains how you can get one, how you find them, when they attack, and how they are created. The book also explains the precautions schools take so that their computers don't get stolen or vandalized.

Since my last post I learned how to create games within powerpoint, and how to create and use action buttons. This could be helpful in my career for quizzing or tutoring kids.

My best friend and I decided to go on vacation to North Carolina to see her friend in the Marine Corps. We will see how that works out and if we actually go. Atleast school is almost done for the semester!! :)

The books lists different ways to integrate computers into the classroom such as using it for tutoring or as a teaching assitant. The book also suggests writing an ongoing story with a class, but setting up guidelines for the students.

I'm not quite sure I've learned anything since my last post...

I think writing an ongoing story with an English class (Which is what I'm going to teach) is a great idea. It could be used to help kids strengthen their writing ability and to do something fun, and not too boring.

Prior to looking through this chapter(again) I hadn't known anything about the ASSURE Model, or even how it would be used. I've never had to use it in schools, and it seems slightly difficult to get the jist of. Personally, the KWL charts seem more effective and are much easier to use.

I learned how to evaluate web sources since my last post, which is a useful thing for research papers or papers in general. I learned what an ASSURE Model is, and how to use it.

Nothing really new, just alot of work and school. No time for sleep or anything else really. School seems really hectic and hopefully it will all work out.

Chapter 6 was about education and how teachers should go about using computers in the classroom. It also talked about lesson plans like KWL charts. The high school I went to, had laptops in the library that teachers could "check out" for their classrooms, for group projects and what not. I think this is convenient. Chapter 5 also discussed the role of the school district, which is also pretty important to the education system.

Since last class, I learned some new features on Microsoft Word. But, it's slightly useless, because I have Office 2007 and it's a completely different layout, and much more difficult to navigate through.

Nothing new in life, other than boyfriend is moving up to Tallahassee, or atleast visiting for awhile. I'm very excited. Work is going well, I got my first paycheck! A whole $6.83! That's a paycheck to frame, eh?

Chapter 5 talks about how high schools are now using online courses for their students. It also shows a website known as Teacher Web, which I had to use over the summer. It’s a good website for teachers, because it’s easy to use, and very helpful to students. Chapter 4 also introduces different games, whether they are for education or just pure entertainment.

I was unaware that Google had a video branch, and a scholar branch. I think the scholar branch is very helpful especially if you are looking for professional journals. Google’s video feature is quiet useful.

So, since last week I got a job at Tropical Smoothie. Oh yes, lots of fun. Haha. I really think that the book for this class is kinda dull, which makes it slightly not fun to read, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm ready to just be done with school.

Chapter Four talked about different kinds of devices and how they can be used. Such as External hard drives which you connect to your computeres to store more information. These are very nifty especially in cases where you just need more memory to store information or you need to quickly transfer something from one computer to another. The chapter also talks about how to care for cds, which includes not stacking them, or expose them to excessive heat or sunlight.

This class I learned about Inspiration and how it is used. I think that Inspiration could come in handy when teaching. Whether it be to chart things, or just to organize yourself. I like the program itself, and think it's an excellent tool for teachers. I think all the pictures and tools in Inspiration make it fun to use, and would like to learn how to use it better.

I really dislike using Sam, but in some cases it is helpful in learning things I was unaware of before. I also really like this class, because of the projects. They help apply the programs to real life situation where you could potentially use it for your self. Like making a newsletter, and especially making a test. Having to make a test with the guidelines that were given, makes me realize how you don't want to put a test out there that looks completely unprofessional.

I think that note taking software is a great idea. It would make taking notes in classes where professors talk quickly much easier, especially when teachers don't put their lectures online. However, while this sounds like a good idea, it also sounds very expensive. Having to buy a tablet PC could be costly. Also, it mentions a microphone, and that could bother other students who are trying to take notes.

I learned some new things about Microsoft word that I didn't know before. I didn't know how to make columns, or about the tab features. These look like things that could be used on a normal basis, and would be very good to know.

I think it's fun to play around on this blog site, trying to add some more HTML. It's a good way to put HTML to use, other than something like myspace. Besides, these blogs are kinda dull and need html to make them more exciting...

Computers are very important in schools because they teach students vital skills they will need when they enter into the adult working world. Not only can the use of computers in classrooms make it so that teachers can communicate with students, but now educators have access to programs that can help keep children's attention.

I don't think I have gained any knowledge about computers that I was unaware of prior between the period of my last posting and this one. However I hope to learn how to use powerpoint more effectively when it comes time.

I think that technology in schools is an excellent way to keep students attention. In the EDG2701 class that I took over the summer, I learned that if you compose a powerpoint properly children will learn more easily. There is actually a history teacher who makes powerpoints and sells them to other teachers for their own classroom.

I took Computer Literacy as a general requirement in the Fall of 2006. Therefore, this class is basically just repeating that. I own a brand new HP laptop equipped with Microsoft Office 2007, and Windows Vista. I also own a fairly up to date cell phone and use it on a daily basis.

In this class I hope to gain more knowledge about using programs such as excel, and possibly access. I also hope to learn about things on our syllabus such as Inspiration, and Wiki. I also desire to learn better usage of Powerpoint, since now a days teachers tend to use powerpoint quite often.

In high school I took two years of musical theatre and two years of drama, and I was in three musicals. I was in the marching band for four years and played clarinet and flute. Most of my time is spent with my significant other, Christopher. I am still currently considering going to law school, but no decision has been made as of yet. I want to teach high school sophomore english, inspired by a family friend. Lots of people hate writing, but I enjoy it, as long as it's about something I like.
